The sun was high up in the sky, and the clouds were sparse even though they were thick grey clouds. Alex walked down the street, looking up when ever he could, to watch the clouds move above him. The air was moved by a swift breeze that caught his dark hair and tossed it. He smiled as an older lady nodded at him as he waked around her on the sidewalk. Nodding as he past her, he sighed and walked on down the street.
Placing his headphones in his ears and turning on is IPod he let out his breath as the music flooded his ears. This was a calming situation for him... It made him look more like a New Yorker, as he blended in the crowed swiftly. His kept his pace going as he ducked into an adjacent alley way. He quickly looked behind himself and looked to see if anyone noticed... No... No one seen him... or gave a damn about him at the moment... He would have felt offended, but, he did not want to be seen right now.
Alex took a deep breath and ran as far as he could down the alley, to avoid the smells that would hit him as he past a large trash bin. He past the bin and stopped running and looked in awe at the directions the path he chose led him; he could make a left or right, or go foreword. He had no clue, but he had seconds to choose, or he would have done all this for nothing. He flipped a coin, heads... he made a right. Rushing as fast as he could, he had to make it to a safe place to make a call; he knew he was followed, so he could not go to his apartment. That would be stupid leading them to his place.
Quickly he made a left down another alley, this time his nose was flooded by the smell of Chinese food, that reminded him he had not ate all day. Not that he had time right now. His heart thundered in his chest, as he looked behind him, still no one except a few employees standing outside smoking a cigarette out back. They turned to him as he took off fast down the alley. He ran as far as he could then take out his cell phone, slowing down and leaning on the wall behind him. “Ring… Ring…Ring, ‘Hello?” Came the voice of his sister Jessica, he was instantly glad she answered her cell. “Jess, I’m in trouble…” He started to say as a man in black walked down an alley toward him, his eyes narrow... “I’m in a crap load of trouble...” “Alex?” She started, “Love you sis...” He muttered as he looked for a way out shutting the phone off and smashing it on the ground.
Thick grey clouds filled the sky, and Claire sighed as she looked up at the sky with a pained expression. This was her worst type of weather; hot and sunny, yet the sky was full of clouds giving the impression of a burning sunset. Fire wasn't exactly one of Claire's favourite things anymore. She'd had more than her fair share of experiences with it, and didn't intend to have anymore. As she walked along with her hands in her pockets and her headphones in her ears, oblivious to everything that was going on around her, Claire smiled as 15 Step by Radiohead filled her head. It had to be one of her favourite songs of the moment, and the beat was irresistable. Hopping and dancing down the back street to the off-beats of the song, Claire laughed at every odd look she got, waving regally, drawing a lot of attention to herself. The special people were meant to be on the run, but to be honest, Claire didn't care. They couldn't hurt her, after all. Right now, she just looked like an ordinary teenager enjoying her music. How deceiving looks could be.
Claire scowled as she found herself in yet another dark alleyway; however this one was much more derelict than the other she had been dancing down and it stunk royally of Chinese food. Claire had always hated chicken chowmein and egg fried rice. Crinkling up her nose at the smell, Claire stopped in the middle of the alleyway. Something wasn't right around here, and although Claire couldn't put a finger on it, she knew that she needed to be aware. Pressing the pause button on her iPod and stowing the blue metal and headphones into her jeans pocket, Claire looked around her, pushing a few strands of her long fringe behind her ears. Suddenly a clattering down yet another sidealley made Claire gasp. For some odd reason, she felt compelled to go and find out what was going on. Running on her tiptoes, padding as quietly as she could, Claire peered round the corner, and knew instantly what was happening.
A guy who didn't look that much older than herself was talking frantically into his cell phone, and was desperately looking for places to run to, and as Claire turned her head to the other side of the corridor, she could see why. A man with squinty evil eyes clad in a black suit was making his way across the open area where the man was standing. Government, thought Claire, knowing she was right immediately as the man reached inside his suit for his gun. Claire gasped. The man on the other side of the alley was going to die, his expression like a rabbit's caught between the headlights of a car. Claire was torn, looking from one man to the other. Why would the Government be hunting the seemingly ordinary guy? Unless... he's one of us... Claire thought, and shuddered. She knew exactly what she had to do now.
Claire ran at full pelt towards the man in the black suit, who was now pointing his gun at the guy standing on the other side of the alley. Shrieking to disorientate the Government official, Claire mustered up all of her strength and punched the Government official straight in the nose. A bloody fountain spurted from his nose as he fell to the ground, and Claire gasped, shuddering. "Oh God... what have I done?" she asked quietly in despair, and stood over the Government official's seemingly unconcious body. Looking over at the guy on the other side of the alley, Claire walked over to him, her steps shaky. Claire wasn't a violent person, and the crack of someone else's bones under her fist made her feel very ill indeed. Walking as quickly as she could under her circumstances, she approached the guy and smiled half-heartedly. "Are you... one of us?" Claire asked, hoping the guy would know what she was on about. "I'm Claire. Claire Bennet... and we need to get out of here, pronto. Come on!" Claire dragged the man along with her as she ran, hoping he would follow her lead.
Alex's eyes grew instantly wide, a girl, close to his age knocked out the 'suit' who was about to gun him down.. He looked at the smashed cell phone on the ground and sighed. His sister would think he was dead, he smashed it to keep them from tracking her down. She took the guy down with one blow, and a spray of blood, he was laying on the ground not moving but a little in his chest area. Just enough to know he was still alive, that was assuring enough to accept. He looked from the girl who was now approaching him then to the man on the ground. Alex had his back to the wall, and breathing uneasy. "Are you... one of us?" She asked, "I'm Claire. Claire Bennet... and we need to get out of here, pronto. Come on!"
"What the hell is going on?" He demanded, "One of 'us'? what dose that mean?" But he was pulled down the alley by the girl, Claire, who, pretty much dragged him after her away. He sighed and took his head phones out, and stuffed the iPod in his pocket leaving one headphone in as it was. "My name is Alex, if you must know.. and thanks.. Claire.." He mumbled still following her down another set of turns. " I don't know what you mean by "one of us' but I have a power.." He bit his lip as his eyes adjusted to the dim light in the next alley. He looked behind him again, and saw no followers, good he thought. But he was not naive enough to believe they would give up.
"Just where do you think we can go to be safe? Why the hell did you involve yourself, I've been running since Tampa Florida, they followed me here, I can't get away.." He let out as a tear ran down his face.. "I'm tired.." he muttered as he tripped over a slat of wood laying on the dirty ground, as he fell and caught himself on his hands and knees.. "Dang!" He got up quickly and brushed his knees off and took a deep breath, this alley did not have much of a smell, but a musty and wet one. "You say, your like me?" He asked her, looking at her intently. Talking slow and in a low voice.. He held out his right hand and red sparks of energy shot up, lighting up the section of the alley.
Claire panted, dragging the guy along with her as she ran through yet another dark alleyway. Fun fun. Stopping to catch her breath, she realised just how tightly she was holding the man's arm. Relaxing her fingers and pulling her arm to her side, Claire breathed again. They were safe. For now."What the hell is going on?" demanded the man, looking at Claire, but she shook her head, too winded to speak at present. "One of us? What does that mean?" Claire sighed internally. Evidently, she'd overestimated the man, thinking he'd know more than he did. Claire sighed. Was this really necessary?
Claire looked down at the leg of her jeans before replying. She'd cut them open as she ran, and had a small gash weeping blood from her leg. Praying the boy wouldn't notice - although it was a little late for that - Claire rolled her eyes as the usual numb feeling took place as her ability kicked in. Healing was useful, but not when it happened in public. When that occurred, it was a giant pain and a half. Claire sighed, and decided to answer the man, who was still sporting his headphones. Claire scowled. That was rather anti-social. Only Claire was allowed to be oblivious when other people spoke to her. Rolling her eyes, Claire opened her mouth to speak, but the man cut her off. ”My name is Alex, if you must know...” he said, his voice trailing off. “I don't know what you mean by ‘one of us’, but I have a power..” Claire smiled. Alex was easy to talk to. Most people were very uptight about concealing their abilities, but Alex was unlike them. However, Claire couldn’t help but subconsciously think that the boy was much too naïve. Claire was like that once, and the familiarity of the naivety made her think of home. Pain panged in her chest.
”Well, hey Alex... sorry for dragging you along with me, but to be quite honest, standing over an unconscious man is a rather undesirable position, don’t you find?” Claire said, most likely baffling the ‘naïve boy’ with her linguistic skills that sounded like they were from a gathering of aristocrats. As the boy asked her exactly where they would be safe and how long he’d been running for, he sunk to the floor, and Claire felt yet another pang of sadness for him. As he landed on his hands and knees, Claire watched as a stray tear rolled down his face. That was the last straw – Claire wasn’t used to seeing males cry. Crouching down in front of him, Claire smiled. She didn’t need to say a word, for the smile said it all. It’s OK, the smile said. You’re safe for now. Alex looked at her intently, and Claire hoped he had gotten the message. However, he spoke again. ”You... say you’re like me?” he asked, and held out his hand, as if it were a handshake. However, his hand began to glow slightly red, and Claire gasped as what seemed to be electricity formed there.
Claire stared intently at the red sparks dizzying her that sprang from Alex’s hand. They were so enticing, so intriguing... that Claire reached out and touched the edge of a jumping spark. Suddenly, something very odd happened. The numb feeling that had been there for a while as her cut healed suddenly accelerated, and Claire shrieked in surprise and pain, her heart beat jumping up. Claire felt like she was overloading with energy... she was going to faint... and then... it was over... and the cut was gone. What was Alex’s power? Some sort of... ability-enhancer?
”You know your power? What’s it meant to do?” asked Claire, intrigued, hoping Alex would ignore the abruptness of the question.
Claire touched the energy that he produced... Then she yelled like it hurt her... Instantly he felt the power leave his body. Causing his head to swim, the world around him spun momentarily and the pit of his stomach lurched as he turned to face the wall and placed his hand to support himself, as he composed what was left of his dignity. His cheeks were red, when he turned to face her... He finally decided to finally respond to her first question. Although the point was rather moot, shaking his head to wipe out some dizziness he bit his lip and forced a smile. “They been following me since Florida, well not that guy you knocked out, sorry I over reacted, never had a girl save me. No offence intended.” He added quickly. ”You ‘re right, I did expect to die back there, so I was not expecting a chance to get away.. Shock I guess. “ His knees gave out and he slid down the wall again. “Da*n..” He sighed. Looking at her as she waited on him to answer the other question, his mind was processing way to slow right now he never felt this before when he used his power. He wondered why it never hurt him when he used it. Although he never used his power against someone but once, knocking him out.. But the notion scared him, he was a passive person. He sighed and took stock on his condition before he stood back up and collected his thoughts before the girl thought he was weirder than he really was. ”You know your power? What’s it meant to do?” She asked him… ”All I really know about my power is, I can make these red sparks..” He held out both hands at his sides and let some fly around his palms and finger tips.. The dazzling array was beautiful, he liked it... ”So, then I can create orbs... concentrate the sparks in a ball...” He bit his lip in effort and the sparks appeared to be sucked into a center spot on his palm and formed an orb of energy. He looked at her like a young child would a parent he tilted his head and smiled again. ”But… What happened when you touched the spark?” He asked looking at her intently.. “I never met another special person before.. not after the eclipse that is..”
Camile was bored. He hadn't stole anything in about two days. All his time was devoted to keeping his personalities under check. He walked past people in the street absorbing there looks as he went
Camile transformed into one of the people he had just passed with a small pain running over him like usual. His personalities in his head were fighting again. What are you doing absorbing his looks Yeah because it's not like he hasn't done it a million times beforeLets have some fun with this look
His remorseful personality was breaking through. It succeeded in it's fight. He went back to his usual scar faced self. It was then that the nice side saw people who were in need of help. Camile wandered over to them
Alex took a sharp breath, and laughed inwardly. He was taking this all way to seriously not to have noticed he was still in public. Any other time he would have notice somebody walking up on him, and to randomly bring up sparks on the fly... "Yeah, I guess so? " He looked at Claire and back at the man, all expression left his face. A slight smile at the corner of his mouth. A half look at his hands that were hanging at his sides, its been a long while since he was unable to keep it under control, but the fear of being caught again was strong enough to bring a slightest bit of paranoia.
He had no intention of causing his family any more harm, he just had to get away. That was his only choice in the matter, as long as they don't get him. They cant use his family against him later. Hitch hiking, evading capture, the only thing they have is his picture on T.V and in newspapers, at least in Tampa Florida, where the local police were sent after him by someone who worked for a paper company or something. The whole details were unclear, apparently security cameras from the motel she stayed saw him "stealing" documents of high value from her company car. Whatever that was, apparently it was worth the FEDS to get involved.
Camile helped the man onto his feet. But as he was raising him up his dark side grew stronger. As the good personality faught back it soon realised that it was no match against the evil personality.
The evil side had prevailed to shine through. The first thing that it done was steal the identity of the man standing there. He changed his apperance to look exactly like him.
Vincent smiled at the oncoming gray clouds, the dreary bulbous spheres, filling the sky with voracity, sucking up every portion of blue. To most people, this would be an unfortunate occurrence, dullness fogging up their lovely clear and sunny sky, but to Vince, this was a godsend. He was happiest when the skies were overcast; it gave the atmosphere and almost serene feeling. His iPod, always lodged in his ears when he was alone had just changed songs; it began playing I’m Only Happy When it Rains by Garbage. If that’s not a coincidence I don’t know what is, Vince thought, laughing quietly to himself. He continued on his aimless stroll, going where ever, simply enjoying the lovely weather. The upbeat tempo clashed with the depressing lyrics made for a good contrast and suited the day quite well.
Above the din of his iPod he heard some commotion in a back alley to the right. Disgusted by the trash, he almost kept walking, but his curiosity, which could rival Pandora’s, got the better of him and he turned into the darkness. His opalescent skin and frosty blond hair almost gave of their own light against the black abyss. Reluctantly he inhaled, smelling the amorous Chinese food; it made him faintly hungry, he’d always loved any sort of oriental cuisine. Vince sauntered deeper into the alleyway and pulled out the headphones. He turned around briefly to see how far he’d actually gone into the dilapidated narrow space and sighed. What the hell am I doing? he thought morosely.
He kept going deeper and saw a bright red light and that only spurred his intrigue. A person with powers? he wondered, his curiosity growing steadily. His heart beat increased and he broke into a jog, speeding through the nasty garbage-ridden alley. In his haste he ran into a spider web, the home of a dime sized arachnid with even longer legs, an orb weaver, notorious for their intricate webs. It was currently on his shirt, he could feel its vile eight legs skittering across his chest. When he realized it was a spider, panic ripped through his entire body, fear induced adrenaline pumped through his veins. He swiped at his clothing madly, letting out a high pitched, and admittedly girly, scream of terror, sprinting forward. Shaking and nearly crying, he slammed face-to-face with a petite dirty-blond girl, knocking him and possibly her to the gross ground of the alley.
“Oh, it's you.” he said to the girl, a bit of acid in his tone. As he recognized who this was he scowled, not just because of his resentment toward her after what happened in Isaac’s loft, but also because she may have just witnessed his arachnophobia-induced display. She was with two other people, a tanned man with black hair and a crazed look in his eye, like he has a lot going on in his mind and a tall dark and sexy Latino-looking guy. Vincent sat on the ground for a moment and contemplated what to do next.
He then decided to play innocent; hoping no one else heard his comment to Claire. “So, can anyone help me up?” he asked, flaunting his cuteness with a smile on his blushing face.
Alex was helped to his feet by the strange man, who looked like him for a moment.. It must have been the light in the alley way confusing him. This had been the second time today he hit the ground and was absolutely positive his backside was filthy from the dingy alley way that still smelled like moldy gym socks, and something very unmentionable. The man who helped him up kept a lingering hand on his, as he let go the fire in his eyes burned brighter as he said,"Now were gonna have some fun." Alex instantly became defensive and raised a critical brow and looked at the girl Clare confused, and back at the strange man."The hell you talkin' about man?" He asked him, as another person made their way down the alley.
Admittedly this was not one of the best days of his life.. Being chased, nearly killed, now some guy gave him threatening looks. His heart thundered in his chest with unease sighing he looked up at the graying sky, could it be rain? He loved the rain, something he carried on from his childhood. The dark sky, even though it was day, the sound of the wind and the rain against the windows. The only thing that was a problem was thunder storms, where he would not be able to sleep as long as the sky was rumbling. Alex's heart jumped suddenly when he heard a shrill scream and looked to see a blond guy swatting almost comically at some invisible threat. Alex smiled as the guy rushed foreword and ran into Clare.
The handsome guy sat on the ground, almost like he was pouting. “Oh, it's you.” came response upon seeing whom he collided with. There must have been a connection between the two of them. This was irrelevant however and Alex smiled at the guy on the ground, thinking of his own dirty pants from his trips to the ground, intentional and not. "Better get up off the ground, may be spiders on that nasty ground... I been on it pretty much all evening.." Offering the guy a hand he smiled kindly. This guy was cute, and he was showing it off. Alex smiled wider and pushed his hair off his forehead.
(.. Not as long as yours.. but.. my muse catching net has a hole in it.. >.< )
{Vanilla here, just realized that I meant to say "oh it's you" instead of "oh it you" and I'm just fixing it in your post as well so there's no confusion. Bai now <3 Vanillaaaaaa P.S. You can delete this message if you want, just making sure you know I didn't touch anything else :]}
Camiles skin began to bubble but his evil personality remained still. No occurance had been made by the sarcastic side, or even the nice side. This was surely too good to be true.
As his skin bubbled another man entered the alley screaming like a frightened little girl. A surge of pain grew of him as he became taller. This was always to be expected with his powers. As he watched the man climb to his feet he realised that his transformation was complete.
But before he could frame this man for robbery his sarcastic side shone through and tapped his look a like on the shoulder. As he turned he said "How d'ya like me know"
